Choosing Your Firewall Settings

Your firewall is the program on your computer that keeps your it safe from dangerous people and programs on the internet and is very important to have running. More important than having it up and running is having it adjusted to the right settings. If you have the settings too relaxed then your computer could be at risk from hackers and malicious software like viruses. On the other hand, setting your firewall to act too strictly can have bad consequences as well. You may not be able to access certain websites that you want to or even local files on the network.

Firewall settings are usually easy to adjust. It is just a matter of going into the right menu and making your selection. As long as you get the settings in the right place, your computer is sure to run fine, do what you want it to and still keep unwanted things out.

Firewall settings usually come in a range from off to strict. While turning your firewall off is not recommended it will give you the best access to the internet as there are no restrictions on data going out as well as data going in. The medium settings are usually the range that you want to keep your firewall set to. The regulate the data coming into your computer and limit what effects can be taken from the outside. These settings usually do not make it as hard to get out into the internet as the strict settings do.
